Al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula

The following text statement is being distributed by AQ's sympathizers in the UK and elsewhere:

اعتادت وزارة الداخلية الكذب والافتراء وأدمنت عليه وجعلته وسيلة لتبرير فشلها وشماعة لإخفاقها ، فهي كل يوم تعلن أنها قبضت على فلان أو سلم نفسه فلان لإشاعة الأراجيف والتخذيل بين الناس بحثا عن انتصارات موهومة .
وفي حقيقة الأمر أنها لم تستطع الوصول لأحد من المجاهدين المطلوبين فعمدت إلى الكذب والتلفيق لتضمن ما يمن به عليها المانحون والداعمون من الكفار الأصليين أو عملائهم المرتدين من حكام آل سعود وغيرهم .
طمعا منها في استمرار الدعم كلما ازدادت في الادعاء الكاذب أنها قد نجحت في القبض على أحد المجاهدين أو مطاردته .
ومن مقاصد وزارة الداخلية تثبيط الناس عن الجهاد والمجاهدين بادعائها أنها متيقظة وقادرة على ملاحقة المجاهدين وقد خبرناها خلال السنوات الماضية بهذا الأسلوب الكاذب الفاشل ومما زاد الطين بلة مسارعة أبواقها من الفضائيات إلى نشر تلك الأكاذيب والأراجيف حتى صار لا يدرى من افترى الكذب أولا أهي وزارة الداخلية أم أبواقها الفضائية والتي أضحت تعلن الخبر قبل أن تعلم وزارة الداخلية عن تلك الكذبة والتي يبدوا أن مصدرها إنما هو أوهام الفضائية أو اختلاقها الكذب لعلمنا المسبق حربها للدين وحقدها على الجهاد والمجاهدين .
وعليه فما تداولته وسائل الإعلام مؤخرا من إلقاء القبض على عشرة مجاهدين من خلية قاسم الريمي في شبوة ما هو إلا محض افتراء وكذب .
وحقيقة ما حصل هو الهجوم على بعض قبائل شبوة بالطائرات والدبابات ومن ثم إلقاء القبض على ستة من أبناء القبائل المعتدى عليها بحثا عن انتصارات موهومة .
ونبشركم أن من زعمتم القبض عليهم أنهم قادمون إليكم بإذن الله يحملون الموت وهم من سيقبض أرواحكم فخذوا حذركم فقد انضم إلى كتيبة الأهوال عشرات الاستشهاديين وهم الشجعان حقا أتوكم بما لا تحتسبون ولا قبل لكم به فالحقيقة ما ترون لا ما تفترون.

It is a contradiction of a recent claim by Riyadh about the arrest of some AQ members in Saudi Arabia.

And recently Abu Sufyan put out an audio full of dire emprecations against Saudi Arabia.



The press talked mostly about Abu Sufyan's endorsement of the purely mercenary Somali pirates, which I agree was pretty suprising.

This guy and his tiny group of allies are surely in Yemen.

Manchester and Liverpool

About the Easter week roundup in Manchester and Liverpool, Ghost in the terror machine at the Times Online is worth a look. The title refers to the British al-Qa'ida member Rashid Rauf, who was head of al-Qa'ida operations against Europe at least until a CIA drone strike in November of 2008, which might or might not have killed him. Rauf was last been seen in December 2007 when walked out of Pakistani custody, undoubtedly with inside help. He was being held there at the request of the UK.

The Belgian cell mentioned by the Times, busted in December 2008, was this one:

It included Malika al-Aroud alias Umm Ubeidah, the narcissistic and bombastic widow of one of the assassins of Ahmed Shah Massoud. According to a francophone al-Qa'ida member whom I was listening in on at the time, it was Umm Ubeidah's big mouth that caused the plot against Belgium to fail. The Times mentions that one of the six suspects in Belgium has been talking. Whether that person is Umm Ubeidah I don't know and would not say if I did know. He speaks of four target countries, of which the remaining two are France and Holland.

Update 15 April 2009: The show in London got a small amount of local press attention. The MP for that area spoke up a little.

has a new name and some new mock-Salafist preachings from their cult leader.

Anwar al-Awlaki of Yemen and the USA is a longtime proponent of Islamist terrorist aggression throughout the world. In particular, he lionizes the early AQAP chief Yusuf al-Ayyeri and he endorses what he calls "martyrdom operations". Al-Awlaki's followers are mostly immature and uneducated anglophones recruited from the gutter, many of them converts, plus a few immigrant Pakistanis and self-pitying Palestinians, but few of his fellow Arabians. He endorses al-Qa'ida but in general al-Qa'ida does not return the favour. Al-Awlaki's internet presence relies on help from others, in particular some of the Tibyan people in the UK.

Kavkaz endorsing al-Awlaki and vice versa

Everything that Anwar al-Awlaki writes on his blog gets copied immediately (and without a word of criticism) to numerous other websites operated by his Anglophone cult followers. But lately a different sort of element has joined into this practice: the English-language section of Kavkaz Center. Kavkaz is part of the web presence of the network that calls itself the Causasus Emirate. Today al-Awlaki made the unusual move of copying and pasting some of Kavkaz's English stuff to his own blog.

The piece is a scripted "interview" of the CE member Supyan Abdullayev, translated from Russian into English by Kavkaz I'm pretty sure.

Evidently one of Abdullayev's aims is to discredit Hamas and paint his own group as the real champions of the Gazans. I am a little surprised that al-Awlaki would include this anti-Hamas material on his own blog.

Abdullayev also talks about the main recurring theme in CE's English-language propaganda: their rivalry with other Islamists who have ambitions against Russia.

Al-Awlaki's stuff is not yet being ported to the Russian and Arabic sides of Kavkaz.

Appendix 7 March 2009: I very much doubt that al-Awlaki has any serious following among Umarov's people in Daghestan or any other part of Russia. None of those people has ever mentioned him, to my knowledge. But his appearances on Kavkaz indicate that the English Kavkaz webmaster is one of al-Awlaki's fans in the UK. That person seems to have no languages other than English. Al-Awlaki definitely has the services of another British Muslim propaganda and incitement group, who go by Tibyan Publications, one or more of whom is probably also doing the English Kavkaz stuff. The English Kavkaz condemns their Russian rival Ahmed Zakayev rather often, as it would if the Kavkaz web person were in the same country as Zakayev, i.e. the UK.

The more serious (but equally dishonest) side of Kavkaz is written in Russian and uploaded by Chechen fugitives elsewhere, particularly Istanbul. Somebody in that group closely follows the Turkish press. Much of the Russian material gets translated into Turkish.

Maqdisi sides with al-Siba'i; al-Massari backs down

Top al-Qa'ida cleric Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi has written a little on his Minbar at-Tawheed wal-Jihad website about the recent squabble in Londonistan. Maqdisi speaks of the al-Qa'ida program going ahead "with Massari or without Massari", and says it is not restricted to KSA, in contrast with the program of Massari (who is a Saudi). I'm not sure that this means much. Anyway, below is a copy of a bulk email sent out yesterday by Massari's little group to all their supporters. He wants to bury the hatchet but takes the opportunity to crow that the publicity over the dispute has attracted a lot of new members to his forum.

وفي نفس الوقت فإننا نهيب بحضراتكم الإنتباه إلى أن هذه الإجراءات إنما هي لإغلاق الباب على من يتجرأ من عملاء الأنظمة وشيوخ الإقامات والفقهاء على مذهب إليزابيث رئيسة كنيسة إنجلترا والمنحرفين من مشايخ التسول علماء القرامطة.

كما تقرر فتح الباب للنقاش بشرط إلتزام الأدب والموضوعية حول المذاهب والفرق ومن ذلك فكر الشيخ محمد عبد الوهاب شيخ النجديين والفرق الأخرى كالشيعة الإثنى عشرية وغيرها من الملل والنحل،
ولذلك جاري التنظيم وسوف يتم إفتتاح منتديات أخرى في غضون الأسابيع القليلة القادمة يكون فيها النقاش مفتوحاً مع ذوي هذه الفرق لمن عنده من العلم ما يتطيع أن يذب عن فكره بدون إسفاف أو تطاول على الأشخاص وستكون المنتديات بعناوين نقاش مع الشيعة، نقاش مع الوهابية، نقاش مع السلفية، نقاش مع الجامية .. إلى آخره أو حسبما يتفق الأعضاء في مجلس شورى الشبكة.
وسنضع شروطاً للنقاش إن شاء الله تضمن الجدية وعدم التطاول من قبل أي عضو.

تقرر منع الألفاظ الغير مستطابة من قبل الأعضاء كقولهم القرنشيطانية والقبورية وغيرها من الألفاظ ونرجو من جميع الأخوة التعاون معنا على هذا الأمر للرقي بالمنتدى وعفا الله عما سلف ولنبدأ صفحة جديدة معاً.

فقد لاحظت ارتفاع عدد الأعضاء بشكل مذهل في الفترة الأخيرة حتى أنه قد تضاعف عما كان قبل شهرين فقط وتضاعف الحضور وزادت نسبة الإهتمام بعدما ظهرت صفحات الموقع على قناة العبرية فلقطع الطريق على ذوي النفوس الضعيفة فسوف نمنع هذه الألفاظ إن شاء الله.
