Some mention of Bev Giesbrecht of Jihad Unspun

Bev Giesbrecht is the real name of "Khadija Abdul Qahaar". For what little it's worth, the front page of her commercial propaganda site has been prepended with the following text.

Khadija Abdul Qahar is a devoted Muslim who created jihadunspun.
Since 2003 she has operated a totally independent outlet for news about the Middle East.
With almost no resources, this remarkable person raised the bar for courageous reporting.
She understood that her integrity would be attacked by both sides, which is what happened.
But above all, Khadija appreciated the kind support she received from Muslims world-wide.
Pray to Allah that she will soon continue her efforts providing a vital service.

I have no corroboration that Giesbrecht is in the hands of the Taliban or that the kidnappers are setting conditions about Bagram, or any other specific conditions. Background:
Bev Giesbrecht of Jihad Unspun reported kidnapped in Pakistan

Update: The preface now reads
Khadija Abdul Qahar is a devoted Muslim who created jihadunspun.
Since 2002 she has operated a totally independent outlet for news about the Middle East.
With almost no resources, this remarkable woman raised the bar for courageous reporting.
She knew that her integrity would be attacked by both sides.
But Khadija appreciates the kind support from her fellow Muslims world-wide.
Her primary goal is independent journalism that provides an alternate voice to Western media.
She was aware of the risks involved in her latest journey, but had faith in those who were supposed to protect her.
This site will announce future events as they occur.
Pray to Allah that she will be allowed to continue her efforts.

20090108 Taliban kidnappers demand ransom, and release of their colleagues from Bagram jail in Afghanistan

Update 18 January:
20081111 Khadija and her two assistants were taken on route to Miranshah in North Waziristan, Pakistan
20081217 It has been revealed that Khadija is alive (no word on her assistants)
20090108 Taliban kidnapper calling himself Suliman demands ransom, and release of colleagues from Bagram jail in Afghanistan
20090116 It has been revealed that Khadija is still alive but in failing health with two cracked ribs

I know who is writing those statements. I see no reason to believe them. I suspect that the kidnappers are just independent local criminals, because I have heard no mention of Giesbrecht from her beloved Taliban.

At the time of Giesbrecht's disappearance, Pakistani press reported that she had entered Pakistan on a 30-day working visa, vouched for by an "independant documentary film maker" and by an employee of al-Jazeera, both in London. In her last communication she said that she had to get out of Pakistan due to the expiration of her visa, and she asked for money via PayPal or Western Union to pay for her flight out. But her alleged effort to travel from Peshawar to Miranshah began after that.

Giesbrecht is a Canadian citizen and Canada has an embassy in Islamabad and a consulate in Karachi, through which she could have arranged a flight out, to be billed later, I presume. I find it notable that al-Jazeera apparently did not answer her appeal for money.
